Dave Reiss

WestRock - Senior Director, Enterprise Logistics Operations

Dave Reiss has been in the logistics and supply chain industry for 22 years and is currently serving as the Sr. Director, Enterprise Logistics Operations for WestRock, Atlanta, GA (Fortune 500 - #190 Ranking). Before his work at WestRock, Dave held logistics leadership positions at The Home Depot (Fortune 500 - #23 Ranking), Simmons Bedding Company, and The Coca-Cola Company (Fortune 500 - #64 Ranking) specializing in logistics strategy, operations, and procurement.  Dave graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Forensic Science.  Dave currently resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife Taryn and their two kids Madison and Jake.  Dave enjoys spending time with his family, watching baseball, college & pro football, and working out.


ROn Guzzi

The Home Depot - Senior Manager Transportation Carrier Relations

Ron Guzzi serves as a Senior Manager of Transportation and Carrier Relations for The Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer. Guzzi's responsibilities include managing all domestic transportation carriers within the Home Depot's network including, carrier on-boarding, all carrier bid activity, performance compliance, financial impact to business, contracting, etc.  Ron has served in various transportation roles over the past twenty years at The Home Depot, additionally he served in the US Army reserves for seven years. Guzzi is a self proclaimed "over the top" football fan, specifically for Penn State and the New York Giants.  He attended college at East Stroudsburg University, in Pennsylvania.


Robert Poole

Reason Foundation - Director of Transportation Policy

Poole, an MIT-trained engineer, co-founded the Reason Foundation with Manny Klausner and Tibor Machan in 1978, and served as its president and CEO from then until the end of 2000. He was a member of the Bush-Cheney transition team in 2000. Over the years, he has advised the Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, and George W. Bush administrations on privatization and transportation policy.

In the field of surface transportation, Poole has advised the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the White House Office of Policy Development, National Economic Council, Government Accountability Office, and state DOTs in numerous states.

Poole has written hundreds of articles, papers, and policy studies on privatization and transportation issues. His popular writings have appeared in national newspapers, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, and numerous other publications. He has also been a guest on network television programs such as Good Morning America, NBC's Nightly News, ABC's World News Tonight, and the CBS Evening News. Poole writes a monthly column on transportation issues for Public Works Financing.

Poole earned his B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and did graduate work in operations research at New York University.


Paul Stith

Black & Veatch - Director, Strategy & Innovation

Paul supports teams around the world advancing clean energy technologies in transportation and energy storage.

His work includes strategic consulting with utilities on electrification initiatives to turn-key engineering and deployment of high power charging for urban, corridor, transit buses, medium/heavy duty fleet facilities, autonomous and connected vehicle infrastructure. 

Prior to Black & Veatch, Paul was Director, Business Development and Regulatory Affairs for EV Grid where he led policy initiatives with the CPUC, California roadmaps for VGI and Energy Storage, V2G school buses and 2nd life battery system interconnection with BMW’s Pacific Gas & Electric VGI pilot.


John Moore

Volvo Trucks North America - Product Marketing Manager

John Moore is a 20 year veteran of Volvo Trucks North America and currently serves as North American Product Marketing Manager for Volvo and Cummins diesel engines in the Volvo chassis.  John’s responsibilities include optimizing current and future integrated drivelines to specific customer applications by utilizing engineering, sales, aftermarket, and other customer related resources along with building informational tools to assist Volvo Group personnel in applying these technologies.  John holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Memphis.  His educational and technical skills have combined to produce a rich history in the automotive and trucking industry.  At Automotive Controls Corporation, John functioned as Field Technical Representative specializing in computerized engine controls, electronic ignition systems, and OB2 emission systems.  John joined Volvo Trucks initially to support electronics training and sales engineering during the launch of the Volvo VN product.  Other Volvo Truck assignments included Sales Engineering, Sales Training Management and National Accounts Support Manager.   He resides in Reidsville, NC and works out of VTNA’s corporate offices in Greensboro, NC.


Steve King 

Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. - Eastern Division Sales Manager

Steve King has 35+ years in the truck trailer industry. He has held manufacturing, field service and retail distribution level positions in the truck trailer business, as well as Eastern Division sales management level. For the last twenty- five years, he has managed the dealer sales support in the eastern part of the United States and eastern Canada for Utility Trailers.

Steve is married and has two children. He is active in his neighborhood civic organizations and enjoys cooking out, golf and off shore fishing.


Doug Scott 

Daimler Trucks North America- Regional Sales Team Manager

Doug Scott holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UNC-Charlotte.  At DTNA, Doug started with Freightliner in their manufacturing plant in Mt Holly, NC. Doug later joined the Customer Application Engineering group that processes all truck orders submitted by the Freightliner and Western Star Dealer Network, in Fort Mill, SC.  Doug is now the Regional Sales Team Manager for the Freightliner Dealers in the Southeastern US. Doug is based in Fort Mill, SC at the Daimler Trucks North America Corporate Office.

Steven Murphy

Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors, Partner -Transportation & Logistics

Steven Murphy is a Partner in Moore Colson’s Tax Services Practice. Steven works with the coordination of tax services for clients, planning and organizing engagements, managing the progress of work, maintaining and expanding good client relations, suggesting and implementing tax planning ideas, performing research, and supervising staff.

Steven’s professional background in public accounting, along with his strong interpersonal and team-oriented skills, complement Moore Colson’s already diversified tax team. With expertise in federal and state tax planning, Steven’s successful business background includes serving clients in the transportation, retail, manufacturing, and technology industries.

Steven started his professional career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where he worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions group. He then spent two years with Deloitte & Touche LLC, and most recently worked as a Tax Manager with closely held clients at a local firm before joining Moore Colson in 2007.

Chris Arnone

Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors, Partner - Business Assurance

Chris Arnone is a Partner and Business Assurance Practice Leader at Moore Colson. Chris has extensive experience in serving companies in the transportation, manufacturing, distribution, staffing, private equity and venture capital industries. In addition to audit and accounting services, Chris has significant experience in mergers and acquisition due diligence as well as expertise with employee benefit plans.

Chris’ responsibilities at Moore Colson include leadership of the firm’s Business Assurance Practice, coordination of assurance services for clients, technical research and consultation, maintaining and expanding client relationships, developing and implementing value-added ideas, and mentoring and training professionals within the firm.

Chris graduated from the University of Scranton in 1997, where he served as the co-captain on the men’s basketball team and received the University’s excellence in accounting award.

Mike Pompilio

Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors, Partner - Tax Services

Mike Pompilio is a Partner in Moore Colson's Tax Services Practice. He focuses on providing practical and meaningful tax strategies while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations. He is responsible for the coordination of tax services for his clients, maintaining and enhancing client relationships, and the development and supervision of talent.

Mike leads tax services for our Real Estate Practice. He brings considerable technical expertise to the firm in the complex federal taxation areas of real estate, partnerships and corporations. He has extensive experience in all sectors of the real estate and hospitality industries, including fund managers and advisors, developers, operating properties and hotels.

Mike’s broad public accounting experience enables him to provide comprehensive tax consulting services to an array of middle market and closely held businesses. He also leads the firm’s manufacturing industry group, where he utilizes his strong background in corporate and partnership taxation. Mike's professional background, coupled with his strong interpersonal and team oriented skills, complement Moore Colson's already robust and diverse tax team.

Mike began his career in the Atlanta office of PricewaterhouseCoopers, before joining the Atlanta office of a regional firm. He joined Moore Colson in 2013.

Shawn Hardister

Moore Colson CPAs and Advisors, Partner - Tax, CFP

Shawn W. Hardister, CPA, CFP® regularly assists closely-held companies and their owners realize financial success. He is a tax and financial planning partner who specializes in professional services firms, particularly law firms and physician practices.

Shawn has almost thirty years of experience as a CPA, and almost fifteen years as a CFP®. Shawn’s industry experience also includes ten years of physician practice management in the role of CFO for subsidiaries of two public healthcare companies (Coastal Healthcare Group and Tenet Healthcare).

Prior to joining Moore Colson in 2013, Shawn was an Owner and Partner of Brooks, McGinnis & Company, LLC CPAs in Atlanta, Georgia where he managed numerous tax and audit client relationships, expanded the firm's client base in the nonprofit audit and closely-held company tax niches, and advised clients on accounting, profitability improvement, operating agreements, compensation models, financial and succession planning, and tax planning and compliance matters. Matt has over 14 years of investment banking experience encompassing numerous capital markets transactions across a variety of Industrial sectors including: transportation and logistics, facility and industrial services, heavy manufacturing and automotive. Matt joined
SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (“STRH”) in May of 2014. Notable experience at STRH includes the sale of American Global Logistics to NexPhase Capital and EVE Partners, financing experience with Air Transport Services Group, Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Kenan Advantage Group, Quality Distribution, CAI and Triton International. Prior to joining SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, Matt served as a Vice President at Brookwood Associates and an Associate at BMO Capital Markets.

Taylor Howerton

Taylor has over 20 years of experience serving SunTrust’s clients, including advising, structuring, and arranging transactions for a diverse set of clients in the middle market and municipal space. Taylor currently heads SunTrust Bank’s Logistics and Supply Chain Industry
Specialty and partners with teammates to provide tailored solutions and advice to clients operating in this critical and dynamic industry.
Prior to joining the Industry Specialty Team, Taylor was a Director at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (“STRH”) in the Financial Risk Management group (“FRM”) specializing in tax-exempt derivative applications, balance sheet optimization, and helping clients mitigate exposure to market risk. Prior to joining FRM, Taylor served as a Vice President in the Market Risk Management group at STRH, a team whose responsibilities include assessing the sensitivity of the firms trading positions to changes in underlying market prices and volatility.

William "will" Buchly

Suntrust Corporation - SVP & Commercial Relationship Manager, transportation & Logistics Sector Georgia

Will has over 10 years of experience in the banking industry comprised of advising, underwriting, and structuring solutions for a diverse set of clients across the corporate banking and middle market spaces. Will currently serves as a Commercial Relationship Manager covering the transportation and logistics sector in Georgia where he leverages a broad array of SunTrust partners to help clients achieve their strategic objectives. Core themes include liquidity events for Owners, M&A, and tailored financing solutions. Prior to joining the SunTrust Commercial Team, Will was a Corporate Banker at Synovus Bank focused on financing leveraged buyouts (“LBOs”) primarily for private equity firms as well as investing in syndicated credit facilities to meet the growth objectives of large corporations. During his tenure at Synovus, Will played a key role in $1 billion of originations across a 5-year span.
