*******CONSTRUCTION WARNING ON I-20 *************
NO LOADS OVER 10 FEET WIDE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL ON I-20 IN LEE COUNTY
Beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2016, A long-term lane closure will be put into place on I-20 EAST BOUND in Lee County
between US-15 (mm 116) and SC-341 (mm 120). Concrete barriers will be installed.
The two (2) EAST BOUND lanes will be reduced down to one(1) lane. Only Ten (10) foot wide loads will be allowed to travel through this area.
NON DIVISIBILE AND MOBILE HOME MULTIPLE TRIP PERMITS GREATER THAN 10 FEET WIDE ARE PERMITTED TO USE THE SIGNED DETOUR ROUTE WITH A WEIGHT OF 90,000 LBS OR LESS.
Anticipated completion date is approximately November 4, 2016.
Wide loads over 10 feet must use detour
Motorists are advised to expect congestion due a long-term lane closure required on eastbound Interstate 20 in Lee County beginning Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2016. (Note: This is similar to the work done on the westbound lanes at the same location this past spring).
Republic Contracting Corp., of Columbia, a contractor for the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), plans to replace a bridge deck on I-20 near mile marker 117. The bridge deck is deteriorating due to aging infrastructure.
I-20 eastbound will be reduced from two lanes to one for a quarter-mile. Traffic on the westbound side of I-20 is not impacted.
The anticipated completion date is approximately Nov. 4, 2016.
Note: A detour route will be in place for all wide loads greater than 10 feet wide. This signed detour uses US 15 (exit 116) and re-enters I-20 from Highway 341 (exit 120).
The lane closure will begin Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6, as workers begin installing a temporary concrete barrier along the work zone.
Motorists are reminded to use caution in work zones, obey the speed limit and expect traffic congestion. The public can keep up with traffic conditions by using SCDOT's 511 Traveler Information System, www.511sc.org.
